Shuichi Nakamura was born in Okazaki, Japan, in 1973. He studied organic
chemistry at Nagoya Institute of Technology, where he received Ph.D. degree
in 2001 with a thesis title "Application of Sulfoxides and Sulfides
to Asymmetric Syntheses" under the supervision of Professor Takeshi
Toru. He joined the faculty of Graduate School of Engineering, Nagoya Institute
of Technology as Assistant professor in 2001. In 2003-2004, he worked as
a visiting scientist with Prof. Dennis P. Curran at Pittsburgh University.
Then, he promoted to Associate Professor at Nagoya Institute of Technology
in 2008. His current research interests are focus on asymmetric reactions
and asymmetric catalysts. He received Inoue Research Award for Young Scientists
(2001) for his Ph. D. thesis, Sankyo Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry,
Japan (2003), Teijin Pharma Award in Synthetic Organic Chemistry, Japan
(2011), Award in Tokai Chemical Industry Association (2012) and Nagase
Foundation Award 2013.
